The Albatross

Post by Stephen Whiteside » Fri Sep 27, 2013 12:05 pm

Still going!

Down and up, and side to side,
The albatross, with well earned pride,
Enjoys a classy, graceful ride
Upon the moving air.
Far, so far away, from land
He demonstrates his unique brand
Of flight, his absolute command
Of all he faces there.

It might be months before once more
He spies the surf and sand of shore,
And yet, to him, it is no chore
To live upon the sea.
He scavenges for all his meals.
He tears the carcases of seals.
He does exactly what he feels,
And lives a life so free.

I guess it's natural to think
A life out on the briny drink
Is like an armour with no chink.
I doubt it's quite that neat,
And yet, to view the albatross,
He looks as though he is the boss,
And never, ever at a loss.
It does look very sweet.
