Hi Heather
Only a few lines but it says it all.

Thanks Terry, I've lost confidence in my writing and it means a lot that you would take the time to comment.
I've been trying to write the same or similar scene in different ways - just as a bit of an exercise to see which would sound the best. It's an exercise for the brain. This kinda sprang from that mucking about.

It's good Heather... paints a picture in a few words.

I found it interesting that you describe winter as a male and spring as female ? was this deliberate ?
Most times Mother nature is described as all female ??

Must be a bloke thing, Bob cos that jumped out at me too. But I do like it - it suits.
Keep "mucking about" Heather . . you never know what might pop out
Cheers, Marty

Thanks Robyn. It's something at least.
I don't know Bob, some things just seem to take on their own personality and winter seems like a "he" to me - that bit kinda wrote itself so it must be subconscious.. My apple tree is definitely a lady. The Grim Reaper is a "he".
Thanks Marty.

Excellent work Heather. You've done well, you are learning how to see poetically.

Heather!

Why on earth would you lose confidence with your writing?????

Girlfriend - what the hell are you thinking.

You write great poetry and shouldn't doubt yourself for a minute. Get off your butt girly and get writing. This poem is delightful - now go find the others

Thanks Neville. I see everything poetically - putting it into words is the hard bit.
Marty spring is bright, pretty, full of flowers and new life, daffodils, baby lambs, yellow light on the tips of the trees - very feminine - there is a renewal of nature. I guess winter is the opposite to that so that makes it a "he".
Maureen, I don't write as good as I want to and probably never will.
Thanks for your kind words. I really appreciate that you have all taken the time to comment.
Heather
