Prettier than a Walnut

When God first made the nut walnut,
He said, "That's very pretty, but,
Do much better, sure I can."
And so he made the nut pecan.

Why does nobody make walnut pie?

my Mum used to make a beautiful walnut pie when we were kids - doubt she would remember now though and I don't have the receipe. It was something she would trot out on high days and holidays and always at Christmas, it was delicious - with shortcrust pastry and I think was a receipe of her Grandmothers.

Thanks for that, Maureen. I've often wondered about that. The pecan seems to get all the glamour, while the walnut does all the heavy lifting - if you know what I mean. It's a cruel world sometimes.

The walnut may not be as pretty, but doesn't its shape resemble the shape of a brain. Perhaps walnuts are more intellectual than pecans.

Thanks Glenny.
