BAD CHOICE

Maureen Clifford © The Scribbly Bark Poet

She put her glass down roughly on the bar – he stood and picked his keys up off the table
she said “ I hope you’re satisfied you fool and come back to your senses when you’re able?
You’re right you know I never would have guessed . I never thought of you and such betrayal
but now I know the kind of bloke you are
and now I see you aren’t no shining star
I hope you leave and hope you travel far.”
The whistle of the train they now heard blowing.

The platform nearly empty just a few high school kids watching waiting for the train
They saw the teardrops falling from her eyes red rimmed with tears that fell like falling rain
They sensed the drama, saw the hopeless farce, and captured pictures on their modern phones
no doubt they’d later share with mates on line
the unravelling drama over time
with no respect at all for love sublime
treating the farce as a clip just worth showing.

He left and never even once looked back – she ran, her face tear streaked and step unsteady.
She thought she’d met her one true love in life – he’d told her no – he wasn’t marriage ready.
The plans they’d made had crumbled into dust and with them now had destroyed all her trust
she returned to the flat they’d shared
and realised he hadn’t cared
and at the lounge room walls she stared.
A woman matched the wallpaper – kept going.

They went their seperate ways - he got a slot on Beauty and the Geek and didn't win - she finished renovating her flat and went on the Block where the judges were blown away by her style and interiors. He's a bum punching above his weight chasing after women that are out of his league and she is a successful interior designer at Rushcutters Bay who only employs good looking gay men. :). and she has an Amstaff called Amadeus who is the love of her life

There are decent blokes around, Maureen , suitable as a good choice for a woman :) A friend of mine lost her husband to cancer about 7 months ago, they had been married for 45 years. She is still grieving.
