Hmmm. Are you trying to tell me that's not good ol' Aussie bush verse, Bob?

Oh, well. In this case, I was getting into bed one night, and I reached for a pair of socks - because these days my feet always get cold in bed at night unless I wear a pair of socks - and I grabbed an old pair of stretched, thin, rather wretched-looking socks that I would normally not wear at all and probably should have thrown out years ago, and I thought, "These will do," and then it struck me that I'm not very fussy about bed socks - especially in summer; I'm more particular in winter - and the phrase "any socks are bed socks" popped into my head, and I thought, "Hm, I like that, I reckon I could have a bit of a play with that."

So I did.

Stephen, Bob. a very talented artist calls that " the significance of the insignificant " if you can catch that ( as Stephen has done ) it's a gold mine.

Thanks, Neville. I must admit that is what I try to do. My motto is "Nothing is too insignificant to write about!" It's served me pretty well over the years, too. (The corollary - "The more insignificant the better!" - also has legs.)
