Bin Day

The years of my life are now measured
by the emptying out of my bins.
I live full two weeks on recycle,
but the rubbish one’s doing me in.

Not something I noticed when younger.
A busy life kept time in check.
Knew nothing of bin day collection.
Didn’t wait on their call or their beck.

These days when I think about bin time,
the tremors come on much too soon.
Amazing how quickly the truck rolls around.
Four times every freakin’full moon.

I spoke to my doctor about it.
He said “Waz I’m older than you.
If this problem you’ve got is contagious,
I’m stuffed if I’ll know what to do.”

I left without any solution.
But I read in the papers next day,
that my doctor had signed off abruptly,
after sending his garbage away

Well I’m not here good folks just to scare you.
But if you’ve bin days on your mind.
There a very real chance that you’ll end up,
facing weekly trepidation
caused by garbage emigration
of a really truly desperation kind.
