MISGUIDED

Misguided
Maureen Clifford © The Scribbly Bark Poet

Oh I’ve had misguided moments and I’ve read between the lines
and thought things set in concrete that were in truth set in time;
I’ve stood fast and gave no quarter when, had I shifted position -
three lives would now be sp different from that much smarter decision.

There are blackened words still out there and far blacker thoughts to tell
but as I’ve aged I’ve mellowed and perhaps that’s just as well.
Words of vitriol were spat as if from the crab apple tree
and the person I once was back then was never the real me.

Circumstances swung the balance, neither party earned applause.
When you’re young hot blood is raging and you never stop or pause
to consider what the outcome of your actions yet will be,
it is only when you’re older that you have wisdom to see.

I'm sure you're not alone there Maureen, I'd confidently say that we can all relate to that to some degree. :)
What was it that one of the old philosophers said (I think it may have been Aristotle) 'The more I get to know, the more I realise I don't know!
That's Life eh!

An extract from Col Wilsons The Wingen Competition

There were whingers from America
And from England too
Where I'm told that whingeing well
Is what the English do.
