GRAMMA PIE


I love to eat hot pies
with gravy and red sauce,
and meat in chunky pieces
( no cutlery, of course ).
So mystery came to dinner,
when pudding was a pie
with cold and sugared crust
and cream on top, piled high.

I spooned into a slice;
revealing ghastly goo.
It’s orange innards seethed
like baby’s nappy doo.
I should be truly thankful
for what I have received,
but it was like cow fodder;
I chewed, then sort of heaved.

I do respect the talents
of caring country cooks,
but as for gramma pie;
please, feed it to the chooks!

Thanks Heather. I actually like gramma pie, this piece is a bit of my old doggerel from early days, recycled with slight renovation.

Neville actually she lived just down the road Gramma Pie was a nice old lady

I love a Good old meat pie, consider myself a bit of a connoisseur.
I've sampled them throughout the country and always look forward to coming into small country towns where they sometimes have homemade ones.
Don't think I've ever tried real Grandma pie though?

Grandma ??If youse blokes are not pulling my leg, then I can tell you that Gramma is a sort of pumpkin. Makes very good dessert pies, specially if spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg. My Grandma made it on the old wood burning stove.
