It seems we're into "list" poems, so here's another one.

I’m Vegetarian (with major apologies to Bruce Woodley and Dobe Newton!)

I come from deep in rich, dark soil, from hillsides and from plains,
I’m shredded wheat and poppy seed and bread that’s full of grains.
I grow to feed the hungry hordes beneath this southern sun.
Since carnivores were frowned on I’ve been vegetarian.

We are one, but we are many,
And from all the lands on earth we come.
We share a dream and sing with one voice:
I am, you are, we’re vegetarian.

I’m enchiladas, pasta, pancakes, great big plates of beans,
I’m broccoli and spinach, peas, and many other greens.
I’m sushi, rice, polenta, veggie burgers on a bun,
I’m terrified of barbies, so I’m vegetarian.

We are one, but we are many,
And from all the lands on earth we come.
We share a dream and sing with one voice:
I am, you are, we’re vegetarian.

I’m tacos and falafel, macaroni, quiche and soy,
and muesli, nuts, and mayonnaise, focaccia and poi.
I’m guacamole, free-range eggs, and hummus by the ton,
I’ll even tackle turnips, for I’m vegetarian.

We are one, but we are many,
And from all the lands on earth we come.
We share a dream and sing with one voice:
I am, you are, we’re vegetarian.

I’m couscous and tabouleh, ratatouille, chickpea soup,
and fruit mixed in the blender till it’s multicoloured gloop.
I’m lentils and potatoes, and tahini is such fun!
Let’s have a tofu party, for we’re vegetarian!

One of the greatest things our multi-cultural society has brought us David - new and interesting foods. I remember when I was a kid my mother would take her own saucepan to the Chinese take away shop. It was such a treat to have Chinese food then. Now look at the list - and the supermarket shelves...
