Fireflies.
I've studied long and hard this thing called Global warming
How our planets heating up through constant drought and storming
This message doesn't seem to gel that man has caused this spate
That the very earth he stands on will one day seal his fate.
The remedies come thick and fast of how too cure this ill
Place a price like carbon credit before the atmosphere we kill
There are many other methods we could use to rectify mistakes
And my minds been working overtime to do just what it takes.
I've spent sometime up in the tropics and much to my surprise
I stumbled on this little insect that lights up the midnight skies
they say he is a firefly that produces the brightest light I've seen
The cost to run is minuscule and the market would be keen.
I'd start a breeding programme and a cage to house them right
Then sell them by the millions as cost effective light
I'd package them with instructions on how the system works
Show the buyer how to breed his own and to dodge power jerks
Think of the saving to the country there'd be no more power grids
Each household with no power bill it would surely save them quids
With a proper breeding system we could do away with light
Fireflies with extra power outage would surely brighten up the night
They could come in difference sizes like up to fourty Watts or more
With a little bit of know-how they'd be flying out the door
I know our premier would not be happy as she tries to sell the grid
And the miners would all loose their jobs and wouldn't make a quid
But in this world there are the winners and schemes like this are rare
Global warming will be forgotten and man again can breath fresh air
Though this scheme is not yet up and running I think I'm on a winner.
You'll know for sure if it takes off because they say “There goes a grinner”.

Re: Fireflies
Ah, man's constant pursuit to make the elusive dollar from something that was given freely.
Such is life.
