The bosses son needed a poem for a school project that he could learn for school.
He is a mad BMX rider so was chuffed when I did this for him and he nailed it on the day. only took two weeks for him to memorise it.
The Ride
I’d made it to the final
but I knew I would be fine.
I’d been training hard for weeks
this was my turn to shine.
The start would be the hardest
it was mate up against mate.
I pressed against the board
prepared to snap the gate.
The tension it was building
as I focused on the drop
Then the starter let the gate go
and yelled ------ “Now Out They Pop“.
My legs were pumping madly
as I hit the table top.
I almost made it over
then went straight into the drop.
At the first burn it was frantic
and I was just a bit behind
then I saw the leaders swing wide
so I grabbed the inside line.
The straight it went so quickly
my legs started to burn.
so I cut low on the corner
as I came out of the turn.
I still had my nose in front now
as the challengers came fast.
one slip was all that stood between
a win and ---- coming last.
I went high on the last bank
to try and gain some pace.
but a rider on the inside
just wouldn’t give me space.
We hit the roller side by side
and headed for the triple jump
I knew that I could clear it
so I gave one final pump.
A half a wheel length was the margin
as we crossed the finish line.
I had a grin from ear to ear
the championship was mine.
I shook hands with the others
for the racing was all done.
cause we are all good friends together
and riding BMX is fun.

Re: The Ride
Onya Bob, bet he was chuffed.
My daughter, likewise needed a poem for school so I knocked up Grandma's Favourite Smells
Grandma has some favourite smells that used to make her smile,
and one of them was rain drops, when it hadn't rained a while.
She also loved the smell of roses on a summer day,
for when the blooms came out it seemed to wash her cares away.
And being real maternal-like, no ifs or buts or maybe,
she loved that sweet sweet smell, of a fresh clean new-born baby.
Then one day whilst out walking, by chance she was to find,
a situation where her sense of smell near blew her mind.
Her unbridled delight; it sent her sense of smell insane -
when she found a baby stuck in a rose bush just as it started to rain.

Re: The Ride
That's a really good effort for a kid to remember that Bob. How did it go down at school?
