The Pizza Party

Who made this pizza?
It’s bloody delicious.
The Eagle Boys? Dominos?
Jeeze, I’m suspicious.

If some woman here
tells me this is home made,
she’s tellin’ a porky.
I reckon she paid

to have it sent out
then put on a plate.
But no way she made it.
I’m telling ya mate.

If so, stone the crows!
She’s a freakin’ sensation.
It’s the best bloody pizza
in the whole bloody nation.

Would I like to have seconds?
Hey! I’m onto my third.
And I’m not finished there,
I’ll give you the word.

I’ve tried all the best
from the ‘Curry to Broome
and if this one’s been made here,
right here in this room,

well son, listen close,
‘cause I’m tellin’ ya straight.
I’m in love. If she’s single,
I’ll marry her, mate.

I layer my pizza with meat and some cheese
some finely sliced onion and anchovy please
a little chopped mushroom and tomato too
and a little diced pineapple - tinned ones will do
a criss cross design with asparagus makes
a delightful concoction to go on your plate
and to finish it off - the whole thing I then dust
with some fresh grated parmesan . Yes that's a must.

I love Pizza - and your poem

Good one Wazza,
But going on your past detail of recipes in the culinary masterpiece dept. I thought for sure you would have had your own wood fired pizza oven in the backyard!! 8-)
bon appertit! :D

Going back to some time in the 50s Neville, I remember a small eatery in Brisbane City, I think Elizabeth St advertising Italian Pizzas. There was one in the window and I remember thinking "Who would eat that?"

I'd enjoy one of those Maureen, but hold the anchovy.

Ron like the lottery ad says ... "Wouldn't it be nice." but I don't make enough pizzas to go to that much trouble.

Check this out Wazza, it is in our new patio kitchen...which isn't finished yet. Hasn't had anything cooked in it yet, but I have fired it twice for curing purposes, probably getting a bit warm for wood fires now, and in fact it is a total fire ban here today.....pizza isn't pizza without anchovies ;)
I remember as a kid growing up in the bush, reading the odd Dennis the Menace comic, that was the only reference I had ever seen to a pizza then, and had absolutely no idea what they were!

it's Ross Wazza, (not Ron) and I assembled it, it is a kit from Bunnings, a mate did the brickwork and plastering.
It looks crooked Bob but it's not, I took the photo with my phone and obviously didn't hold it as straight as I should have, I also had to get the thing in frame without letting too much light in from behind it.
