The Punter's Dream

Post by Neville Briggs » Thu Dec 25, 2014 9:53 am

THE PUNTER'S DREAM

I'll say goodbye to penury
With measured nouveau riche disdain,
The day I win the lottery.

I won't have op-shop cheapery
Adorned with customary stain
That marks the life of penury,

Instead, a taste for finery
In cool designer Calvin Klein
Befits who wins the lottery.

Indulgence and debauchery
Will fire my cashed up brain;
Good bye! so long ! to penury,

To sell my soul to foolery
When all the world is gain
For me, to win the lottery.

With Gina Rinehart flair and glee
I'll wash my socks in Evian
And say goodbye to penury,
The day I win the lottery.

G/day Neville,

That's well written Neville and a good poem as well.

But do you buy tickets - I'm greedy and only have an occasional flutter when there's a big jackpot.

Something tells me that 2015 could be my year.

Cheers

Terry

I'm no gambler Terry. I only get a raffle ticket now and again if one of my friends is flogging them :)

Good one Nev,
Quite appropriate for this time of year, like believing in Santa! but I suppose someone has to win it!
I always subscribe to the the theory of 'easy come easy go' but I do buy the occasional ticket. :)

Good point ;) there have been times when I paid the money and told them to keep the ticket, if they want a donation I am happy to give something I don't need the carrot of some bauble prize.

I saw on the news the other night that a lady in Canberra won 30 million. If I won that sort of money the first thing I'd do is to find a way of giving most of it away.

A raffle ticket is gambling - if you want to win. I only buy them from the local community groups and see it as a donation and as you say Neville, often I don't want the prize that is on offer.

Heather :)

You wouldn't give it away, you'd be paying for new fences and things.
