Sir Prince Phil
Now I dunno wot ter call ’im…
I feel a proper dill!
Is it “Sir” or “Prince” or “Highness”,
or simply plain ol’ “Phil”?
Fer I’ll see ’im down the local,
an’ that’s a dead-set cert...
’e’s a flamin’ bloody ocker,
like pav is our dessert.
Cos ’e’s ridgy-didge an’ bonzer,
as Oz as Uluru,
an’ ’e’ll always be our cobber,
fair dinkum an’ true-blue.
So let’s grab a slab of Foster’s
ter toast our Aussie knight,
fer I’m sure ’e’ll ’ave a barbie,
an’ give us all a bite!

I take it this is a demonstration of the literary approach called irony.

Good one David!
I always thought the saying was that 'once a knight was enough'

but this is a case of 'once a Knight is
too much!!'

I'm a Knight
I was wondering how he was going to go kneeling to be knighted and how he would get up again. He's gettin' on is Phil.

You're not being very nice guys. He's trying very hard to be true blue. He's put a Kingswood in the garage, a victa mower in the tool shed and a hills hoist in the back yard. You can't get more Aussie than that ... oh yeah and he always has vegemite on his morning toast. Back off people.

Ah well, at least the Tonester has demonstrated with abundant clarity how ridiculously anachronistic all this knights-and-dames nonsense is. Talk about being Tone-deaf to the prevailing mood...he's even being rubbished by the Murdoch media! What's the betting that either Turnbull or Bishop get the gig before the election? As it is, he's Labor's best asset.
Cheers
