Tears

Post by Bob Pacey » Tue Jun 02, 2015 4:58 pm

Tears

The tears that trickle down my face are not because of you
or any of the things that you have done.
The tears are for the loves I’ve lost, so many through the years
I gave my heart and soul to everyone.

The loves I had in teenage years that broke my heart in two
so many of them held from far away.
The years when shyness overtook the courage that was lost
when peer pressure seemed to hold such sway.

Stubbornness some called it, that forced me to withdraw
into that thing that was called inner self.
And still it wanders back and forth within a troubled mind
the fear of being left there on the shelf.

There were times when for a moment I almost made the plunge
and committed to some thing I’d later dread.
But the voice would always stop me before fate took a hold
and still it sits there right inside my head.

Do I really want the hassle that comes with love again
a partnership from love so quickly sown..
The voice it always stops me for once scorned is just enough
to create the doubt that keeps me on my own.

I like seeing this softer side of you Bob - it is bringing out some good poetry mate :) This is really lovely, very sad though, but I get that as well. One of the reasons we give our dogs so much and nothing wrong with that either, at least we know they understand us.

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.
