Been writin'?

‘Been Writin’ lately?

“How you goin’ mate he said, you got a bit to do?”
“Yeah always plenty on say I, but that is nuthin’ new”
“Been writing any poems mate, since last we spoke of that?”
“Nah always seem too busy.” as I found a stump and sat.
“Well there’s a poem.” says he to me, “‘Bout never havin’ time,
to sit and think with pen in hand and knockin’ up a rhyme.”
So then I bid a fond farewell, “I’ll catch you later mate.”
my mind was ticking over as I drove out through the gate.
So here we are a few days on I’ve made a little time,
to sit and contemplate his words and put them into rhyme.
It’s just a short and simple poem ‘bout nothin’ really new,
But now I’ve got to bugger off, I got a lot to do!
