EMERGENCE …. Maureen Clifford © The #ScribblyBark Poet
There is no truth in fairytales – they are built on a lie
of happenings with happy endings hiding from the light.
We read and hope or dream that one day we might play a part
but as we age we realize truth isn’t black or white.
Her body strained against the pain and her child she delivered,
a slippery sac emerged and landed there upon the ground,
she turned and looked in some surprise, her bovine muscles tensing
as she heaved her large mass upright and then slowly turned around.
She licked and nuzzled her third man, an active calf and breathing
and completely unaware this would be his last night on earth.
His first and last – for dairies have no use of bull calves. Grieving
his Mum would bellow - desolate . Her son had little worth.
Superfluous to requirements, they took him with the others
to murder bloody murder, let’s just call it what it is.
His Mum bellowed for days – her pain intense, from her eyes falling
tears washed runnels down her face, her spirit lost in an abyss.
We often find the truth out there just hiding from the light
we sometimes even query things that cause us consternation;
the sugar coated, saccharin sweet lies, and happy endings
can’t hide the facts. For many life ends with eradication.

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

Oh nooooo - so sad Maureen! There is always passion from you on this type of subject, to which I can relate as I've said before. I also like this line: but as we age we realize truth isn’t black or white: how very true this is!

Re: EMERGENCE
Thank you Ladies - public awareness is almost nil re this side of dairy farming as it is abour the HRT drug Premarin which is obtained from pregnant mares. No prizes for guessing where the little foals of that trade end up either.
