A Poem
A piece of crap that I saw on a facebook page.
“……….. ALL Moslems who follow the Qur'an (not just Radical ones) have a stated agenda of taking over and applying Sharia Law. While we pussy foot around with political correctness and half of us scream "RACIST" at the other half; the Moslems are breeding on the dole with a fixed idea of taking over in an orchestrated strategy …….”
It prompted me to write this poem.
How strong is your hatred?
How deep does it go?
Are you one of those noises
who so proudly show
his fears and anxieties,
delusions of harm,
about those who differ?
Does it sound your alarm?
What is it that scares you;
their colour; their speech;
their achievements; the dreams
that are out of your reach?
Do you share your opinions
with others, like you,
who choose to embrace
a conspiracy view?
Do you rant an example
of tragic, of wrong?
Build a platform beneath it
to fit your theme song?
Do you lump all the ills
of the world at the feet
of your favourite hate?
Is your anger so sweet
it gives fuel to your being
makes sense of your goal,
while the art of sane thinking
is placed on parole?
You’re misguided my friend.
There are problems that’s true
but they’ll never be solved
by people like you.
Anger breeds anger.
Hate evokes hate.
And your thinking ensures
many more trials await.

Re: A Poem
Well said. We are allowing media paranoia to overthrow our compassion and common sense I believe - and long term it will be to our detriment. A nation unable to show compassion to others is not IMO a strong nation - we are only as strong as our weakest link.

Re: A Poem
Thanks Maureen. I have a lot of friends from way back with whom my only connection these days is through email. More and more I am seeing anti muslim rants, sometimes through cartoons or jokes, sometimes just a 'send them all back' message. I don't know how as a nation we deal with the problems now and into the future but I do know as individuals, tarring all with a terrorist brush is not the answer..

G/day Wazza
I'm guessing most of us have a bit of selective liking and disliking if we're honest about it.
But it's not always out and out racism all the time. You've got to be free to express an opinion,
like most things the secret is to know where to draw the line.

Re: A Poem
G'day Wazza,
I have no problem with Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Blackfella dreamtime, Christians or any other religion for that matter, as long as they keep it in their own back yard and don't try and jam it down my throat. Islam is taking a bit of a caning at the moment because of the terrorism connection, people are always looking for someone to blame for everything that doesn't go their way. I had a bit to do with the Muslim community in Alice Springs, I did some work on the Mosque and their new hall next to it, I found them very pleasant people and that is my take on things, take people as you find them, not as someone else would have you find them!

Yep, what Rosco said. We've had Muslims out here since the 1860s, They came out as cameleers originally for the Bourke & Wills expedition. They settled, identified as Australian, and that was that.
I was supposed to be traveling to Damascus (Syria) and Romani (Egypt) this year for some stuff I'm working on. Well there's that stoush on with the ISIL mob in Syria at the moment ISIL are considered a world-wide threat. Who's fighting them on the front line? Fellow Muslims! Apparently they also consider them a bunch of evil bastards ...
As for me, I consider the popular main-stream media a bunch of evil, lying, kaniving bastards. Almost as bad as political lobbyists.
Oh, well said Waz ...

Good one Wazza
I liked it a lot. Intolerance and ignorance breeds fear and hatred.

Re: A Poem
You're right Terry we do, but it's those who take it to the next level, unreasonably, and then go public in the expectation of gaining support for their prejudices that turn me off. Thanks for the likes Manfred, Matt, Heather, Allan.
