YOUR CHOICE

YOUR CHOICE
You were driving too fast in a hot stolen car.
Your choice, your choice.
Fraught with danger, but bogged down by drug induced stars.
Your choice, your choice
In the blink of an eye see how much your life’s changed,
you’ve veered off the road – by drugs and booze deranged.
Etched in fire now your ending - your families estranged.
Your choice.
They said that the ending was quick – little pain.
Sad choice, bad choice.
Only links of a gold broken necklace remain.
No voice, no voice.
Now written in starlight, your paper bag dreams
have erupted and burnt and no phoenix it seems
will emerge from the ashes. No solace is gleaned
from your choice.
And inside there’s an anger that in this heart dwells.
No choice, no choice.
Sweet memories of you – a young life wasted – well
my choice, my choice.
But for waste such as this. time will not heal the pain
for one sees it enacted time and time again.
Does youth never realize? There is nothing to gain
from your choice.
