THE POWERS OF THE SEA

Post by Duncan Williams » Tue Mar 15, 2011 1:01 pm

G'day Members of the Australian Bush Poets, this poem was written after the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004, but i have decided to post it again in respect for the earthquake and Tsunami that struck Japan last week.

THE POWERS OF THE SEA

As Tsunami waves came crashing,
To the homes above the shore,
Family lives were broken,
Like nothing seen before.
On that day of devastation,
By the ocean's rising tide,
Many people were left homeless,
Well as many thousands died.
The shock of what had happened
In the future, left to be,
When nations come together,
In, 'The Powers Of The Sea'.

Terrible tragedy Duncan and what can be done to help so many - makes one feel totally helpless. All we can pray for is that nations do continue to come together as they are - to do what they can and that the knowledge that people do care and are there to help perhaps makes the people of these devastated areas feel less alone and frightened.

Thank you for sharing your poem Duncan

Cheers

Maureen

To think that it could happen again. Such awful devastation is hard to imagine. Thanks for sharing Duncan.

Ah Duncan I watched the news today and there was a car on top of a three story building so what chance would someone caught in that have.

I think you've caught it just right mate.

Thanks Bob

So many tragic events fade off into history along with the memory of those taken.
