We Buried Poor Old Mum Today

Post by r.magnay » Thu Nov 05, 2015 2:29 pm

I started this last night after arriving home, just finished the last couple of lines, no literary masterpiece, but I hope you will get the picture.

We buried poor old Mum today, four score and three she lived her life,
She’d not complain through work or pain; so many years a farmer’s wife.
Reared four young boys ‘til they we were men and loved us all as mothers do,
taught us what makes things right or wrong, made old stuff seem just like brand new.

We buried poor old Mum today at last she gets her hard earned rest,
for like all Mums, to us at least, she always was the very best.
But Father dear won’t be alone, for Mum is always by his side,
for though her body went today she will have never really died.

My sincere condolences Ross. You are so right in that we never really expect them to go, but the love and memories will always remain.

Sincere sympathy for your loss, Ross. It's the end of an era when we lose our parents - but as you and the others have said, our cherished memories remain.
