I didn't know it was a ono-whats-it, Neville. I just call it a little poem.

While I appreciate the power and the beauty I am scared stiff of lightening because of the fires it causes. A power pole behind my house was hit once and I've never heard anything so loud or so frightening.

onomatopoeia is where the words sound like the things that they describe, like bang, ring, clang, clatter, plop, in your case rumble, whisper and rustle.
Every poet MUST learn what onomatopoeia means, I can confidently say that it's an essential ingredient of poetry. ;) :)

So I'm clever and I didn't even know it! Just trying to think of something decent to write and found these few lines and finished them off. It brings to mind when a cool change comes through and the wind shifts and whispers through the trees. That's something I will miss when I move.

Delightful little poem Heather - you can hear the storm coming through your choice of words.

I had those earlier Heather but a quick trip to the loo fixed em.

Thanks Catherine. Just a little something better than nothing which is all I seem to have at the moment.

Too much information bob.

It is so dry in Victoria at the moment Maureen - crisp brown, like you'd expect at the end of Summer. I'm in NSW at the moment and we've had a bit of rain here lately. Today I went to Parramatta and couldn't believe how green it was along the rail line. We forget how beautiful and refreshing green grass is.
