A New Year Resolution
Those New Year resolutions
don’t hang around too long,
and no-one has solutions
for hopes that go so wrong.
The promises keep drifting
like mist in winter sun,
perspectives always shifting
on when we’ll get things done.
But when it comes to writing,
let’s try to change the score…
on paper or reciting,
let’s do a whole lot more!
So take this random minute
bestowed by Father Time,
and bloody well begin it…
a carnival of rhyme!

Re: A New Year Resolution
An expansion of that image, Neville!
A carnival/fiesta/
fete/gala/jamboree
is far from a siesta,
and much more like a spree,
a joyous celebration
of poetry’s effect,
a cheer of acclamation,
encouraging respect.
