SUNDAY

Mummy,
if I was born in Denpasar
would I have been a Christian?
Or would I have been a Hindu
praying to Saraswati,
or Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva,
Harihara or Lakshmi?

Mummy,
if I was born in Tehran
would I have been a Christian?
Or would I have been a Muslim
holding dear the text if Islam,
reciting verses, suras, ayahs
sacred teachings of Quran?

Mummy,
if I was born in Ghana
would I have been a Christian?
or would I like most Ashantis
pray to the 'supreme creator',
the' infinite inventor'
the 'creator' and 'great spider'?

Are people born to other cultures
destined for eternal hell?
For not believing in our God?
This is what the Bible tells.

It seems a tad unfair and cruel
that a God would thus create
other cultures and religions
only so to seal their fate.

My son,
now off you go to Sunday School,
dressed in you Sunday best,
and learn about the one true God,
and put your mind at rest.

Is it really like that. I hope not. ;)

It's a big discussion I reckon Allan, too big for our little fun forum. :)

the whole religious argument is over rated IMO - does it really matter who we consider as our 'God' He/she could have been from any race on earth and of any colour and either sex come to that. Surely the more important thing was that the attributes of empathy and kindness, love of others, ALL others were there.
