THE RACK

There actually was a rack and it did seem to help a little at times

The Rack

Out on the outback Gibber Plain, I lived and toiled despite back pain.
Oh how I suffered in those days of shoveling dirt to earn a quid.
There’s opal there if you don’t mind a bit of work to make a find,
but you will have to bend your back there, just the way that I once did

Persistence is a thing I had and never mind the ache was bad,
my mates just laughed and reckoned that - they knew the way to fix my back
A kind of bench seat made of wood - protruding slats they swore were good;
though doubtful of this remedy, the time had come to test the rack.

The pain was even worse at first and all that night I ached and cursed,
for two long nights I stuck it out until at last I’d had enough,
I said it had improved a bit – in truth I was escaping it,
Just pleased to sneak back to my bed – who cares if it’s a little rough?

There are always mates with remedies that will kill you if they don't heal you.

My sister is currently getting regular stretches on a rack for her life-long back and neck pain. She swears it is doing her good.

Love the poem :D

Thanks Alan

Your sister might be like me, I've had back problems all my life but never let it slow me down.
It's only in the last year or so they discovered I have a genetic problem(can't remember what it's called)
You're always a bit doubtful of mentioning a crook back, because of the derisive comments you're likely to get from unsympathetic mates.

Cheers

Terry

After experiencing some remedies Terry it's worth living with the problem.

Enjoyed the read.
