CAMPFIRE
CAMPFIRE
Allan Cropper ©
Dreamy, my eyes
mesmerised by the flicker
the lick of the flame,
blue, amber, gold
in a firewood frame.
Let the glow of the embers
enwrap me in warm
Let the crackle of firewood
play on until dawn.
The cantata of firelight
rings sweet to my ear,
a bush lullaby
by a bush balladeer.
Shadows dance as he sings
just off in the wings,
to invisible strings
of a bush puppeteer.

Re: CAMPFIRE
I sometimes wonder if we're not all dancing to the will of a mystic puppeteer.
Might explain some of the silly things we do.

Re: CAMPFIRE
My old house was on three acres and was a Mexican style with big logs through the ceiling.
The reading room had an open fireplace and I found that the fire encouraged me to read a lot more then I do now.

Re: CAMPFIRE
Oh Allan, I'm with you with this one. There is nothing more comforting than a camp fire. I love to get away on my own for a few days and admit to sitting up 'till the wee small hours enjoying the magic of the embers.

Re: CAMPFIRE
G'day Allan.
Over many years I've always enjoyed being mesmerised by a burning campfire and have the
reputation for being last to go to bed.
Often fallen asleep and woke to the chill of the night.
Enjoyed the read mate.
