Selections in our life these days are largely ranked by stars,
twixt one and five we gauge an item's worth.
A level less than three may as well have come from Mars
while five star rating's like a virgin birth.

In going to the movies we seek the critics' view,
though rarely do they class a film at five
but, anything from one to three, consider the review
for on the big screen these will hardly thrive.

Likewise, when we travel and look for a hotel,
the ratings once again affect our pick.
A two star site is out of place and likely to compel
our stay to be concluded fairly quick.

So, while there're many things in life that give us satisfaction,
what turns some on, for others doesn't rate.
My favourite trait may drive you to distraction
and what you like, to me might be lightweight.

Of course, some measures do achieve unanimous appeal,
they score five stars whichever way you look.
Contentment trickles out of these, assess them as unreal,
praiseworthy mentions for everyone's little black book.

One that rates the magic five's in action every day,
the grading at that level justly so.
Three ply toilet paper, it soaks up all puree,
an attribute I feel that we all know.

Anyone who disagrees, does not know what they've missed,
the pleasure that a three ply roll can bring.
For five star comfort add three ply on your next shopping list,
you'll leave the little room just like a king.

I just finished reading a book by the late Neil Postman called " Technopoly " along similar lines to you, he talks about how technology with it's numbers. graphs and polls, have have given us this illusion that we can explain complex things in a simple way by giving them numbers or ratings, or as you said, stars.

Do they do three ply in recycled toilet paper?
