Two 2016

Can you feel the ground is trembling
can you hear the thunder roar.
The whole of Queenslands shaking
I can feel it through the floor.

My fingers are a tingling
my heart it skips a beat.
It’s hard to even concentrate
and I’ve got bloody itchy feet.

Have I got some rare disease
or my yearly dose of flu.
Oh it’s far more serious then that
but what’s a man to do ?

The second origin is coming
and the pressures building fast.
The cane toads armies ready
to give those hapless Blues a blast.

The roaches think they’ve found it
the secret potion for a win.
They have scraped the bottom of the barrel
and let Greg Bird somehow sneak in.

But it’s not quality of player
that makes our team so strong.
It’s the courage and the passion
the strength of knowing we belong.

This game is on in Queensland
Suncorp may not be dim and dark.
But call it what you will
to me it’s always been Lang Park.

The site of many glorious victories
where Queenslands passion first was born.
The Blues they hate it’s aura
the fear and terror it can spawn

They always look so good on paper
but then that is nothing new.
But paper men don’t play our game.
that’s why their wins are few..

The roaches will start sweating
the tears will start to pour.
Their faces show pure terror
When they hear that Queensland Roar.

Fifty thousand screaming canetoads
all baying out for blood.
and I can tell you it will not be ours
oh it's gonna be a flood.

So let the gladiators gather
let the fans all scream and roar.
The Blues think it’s just a football game
But to Queenslanders it’s a

WAR

Good one Bob but...

I’m a female who likes footy I’m a girl who likes the ’biff’
I too am itching for the game to start.
Born and raised in New South’s bush I’m loyal to the Blues
the Cockroaches quite fully have my heart.

I’m ready for the passing of the ball across the park
I love to see it sail above the dot,
the speedsters as they tear along the sideline on winged feet ,
to see the ref then pointing to the spot.

The hit-ups make me cringe a bit, it’s like I feel their pain,
I don’t know how they stand again to play,
the set plays and the fumbles as they strive to make a yard -
if we err the Toads will surely make us pay.

I’ll be waiting with the telly on for Origin to start
and cheer as loudly as if I were there,
each yard they make, each scrum they win I’ll celebrate with them,
be up and dancing ‘round and ‘round my chair.

Though realistically I know our chances of a win
may be of slightly optimistic bent,
I’ll be there in each tackle and each point the ‘Roaches score
each hour will be joyfully well spent.

LAURIE AND THE BOYS IN BLUE

A QUEENSLAND HEART DOES SWELL.

NOW WE CANE TOADS ARE A PEACEFUL LOT
OUR GAMES ABOVE REPROACH
BUT LAURIE KNOWS WE LIVE AND BREATH

COCK-A-ROACH

Cane Toads carry poison glands, can kill the family dog,
I will not need to kiss one though – no cursed prince here as frog!
The princes all wear blue it’s true and so will gain the throne
and not the one where red backs dwell but one where Toads atone!

Someone said The Blues will win
I've heard it all along.
The calls gone out of GO THE BLUES
Ah yes The Blues are Gooooooone !

The banter is over the battle lines drawn
this spectacle has to be seen.
Your colours selected it's mate against mate
there can be no more sitting between.

So shout from the rooftops and get out your flag
let the whole world know Queenslands your team.
When Origins on you can shout it out loud
Help Cory go out with a dream.

The Roaches are cocky but they always are
but cocky just won't win this game.
Courage and passion is what makes a team
and NSW arn't in the frame.

So break out the banners and show your support
the Blues know that ending is dark.
The day Queensland claimed a fine series win
in the place where it started Lang Park !
