Shaky Knees
I've never been much good at public speaking
it really caused me grief and fear
But I was still prepared to have a go
after a pot or two of beer.
But no matter how I practised
and spent time to get it right
I always had one problem
that would surface on the night.
My left leg was uncontrollable
no matter how much care I'd take
The bloody thing would start to quiver
and then violently would shake.
Oh to try to hide the trembles
I'd shift from toe to toe
and for a while the ploy would work a treat
then off again the thing would go.
Though once I'd got into my stride
I could control it to a tee
But I always bore that secret fear
deep down inside of me.
Then one night I watched a T.V. show
and the truth shone through the haze.
They did a spiel on Elvis
way back in his early days.
Now Elvis was a great one
any crowds heart could he take,
but I noticed when he'd start to sing
his left leg would always shake.
I sat there in amazement
it was enough to make me cry.
The solution to my problem
was right there before my eye.
So now I let the damm thing go
it shakes and jumps about with glee.
Cause if its good enough for Elvis mate
then it's good enough for me.
