BEGIN AGAIN

Remember how you vowed
To start this year anew.
Remember all those resolutions
You were sure to do.
It seemed so very easy;
A little bit each day
Or maybe just a bit each week
To keep things on the way.

The days go by so fast;
The first month’s nearly over,
And what small steps or what great strides
Have marked your will to power.
It’s fallen in a heap !
We know you’ve failed again.
You’re just like all the rest of us;
Resolve goes down the drain.

Just get a bigger belt
With one size up in trousers
Or tell yourself that fellas like
Real girls with well filled blouses.
All hope is never lost,
You’ll see a new, new year.
And that is when you will succeed ,
Oh sure you will ? Oh dear !

I never make resolutions. Since I am incapable of keeping them to do so seems to be a waste of time but at least I can lay claim to being a failure

Maureen, I can’t decide which of your wonderful epithets applies to me ... but I suspect “Rubenesque” might be closer to the mark. I can’t really picture myself as Jupiter’s missus!
