2012 ABPA Queensland State Championships - Townsville

Post by manfredvijars » Tue May 08, 2012 10:07 am

There's a hardworking group of dedicated poets up in our beautiful North. They are a small dynamic group, who meet monthly to socialise, read, write and perform Bush Poetry. They do their performances for charity, and their reward is seeing the smiles on the faces of their audiences.

The "Townsville Bush Poetry Mates" are so keen to stage a successful Queensland State Championship they have contributed many hours in organising as well as financially towards the success of these Championships.

Their "Labour of love" extends to a unique set of trophies - Ian (seen below) is hand-making forty Condamine cow bells for the trophies (even the rivets are hand made). The cedar the bells will be mounted on is the beautiful Mackay Red Ceder and comes from John and Carmel Lloyd's property at Calen near Mackay. Wonderful trophies indeed for the winners and place-getters in the 2012 June ABPA Queensland State Championships

There's a saying in Queensland, "The farther North you go, the friendlier the people are!"

Check it out and see if I'm wrong ...

Pop up to Townsville for the 2-3 June, for the 2012 ABPA Queensland Open Bush Poetry Championships

G/day Manfred,
There's no written comp is there?
Wish I could get there but will be up at the Ashburton - not a bad spot either mate.

Cheers Terry
