ABPA - Australian Bush Poets Association

Hi all,
just a request for future magazine submissions from members. Our children's section seems to be very popular and featuring a young poet each edition is proving popular also. But it gets hard to try to find young poets to feature without scouring the country. So if you have any young poets in your area, or come across any in your travels, try to encourage them to allow themselves to be featured in the magazine. All we need is a Pic, a bio and a poem they have written. By putting the word out, then I hope to cover a wider range of young talent across the country.

Also, a big thanks to all who contributed to our Remembrance Day edition and a reminder that next issue will be the lead up to Christmas, so if you have any Christmas/New Year articles or poems, please send them in.

Also, any suggestions for improvements, etc. for the magazine are always welcome.

Were there any kids involved in the latest Toolangi do Stephen ?

Yes, Manfred, two of the primary school children who had written award winning poems were brought to the award ceremony by their parents and read out their poems - to great applause.

We didn't have any children performing during the remainder of the festival, except on the Sunday a four year old boy sat on the lap of his father and together the two of them sang the full version of TMFSR in song form, with the father playing the guitar. The boy just about knew the whole thing off by heart, I am told. (From where I was sitting, behind them, I could not see/hear them very clearly.)

We usually get a reasonable number of primary school entrants, but it's a struggle to get much from the secondary students - I think this is a pretty universal experience.
