Yass Show Poetry Competition

New written and performance poetry comp!
In keeping with a 150-year tradition of innovation and connecting with the community, the Yass Show Society will add a literary dimension to the popular agricultural, artistic and entertainment events at the 2013 Yass Show, to be held on March 16-17 2013.
Featuring a Poets’ Breakfast on Sunday March 17 (St Patrick’s Day) as well as written and performance competitions for both adults and juniors, the inaugural Yass Show Poetry Competition boasts cash prizes for first, second and third in each section, plus incentives for local entrants. There will also be a special award at the Poets’ Breakfast for the best performance of a poem relating to St Patrick’s Day.
As well as the performance competition, the Poets’ Breakfast will open the microphone to all comers. First timers and experienced performers alike are welcome to take centre stage at the showground sports stadium, where the audience can expect to hear a terrific range of traditional and contemporary poetry.
The Entry to the Poet’s Breakfast is via the Yass Show gate, where entry for ticket-bearing members is free. Sunday only tickets to the Yass Show cost $10 adults, $5 children. A family membership gives entry to the Yass Show for two days for two adults plus all their children under 18 (accompanied by their parents) and can be purchased for $35. There is no additional charge for the Poet’s Breakfast or for parking once inside the Showground.
