As reported in last ABPA Mag, the Kangaroo Valley FF is expanding their spoken word component.
Not only is there a written R&M Poetry Competition (which closes on 11th October and will be announced on Saturday at the festival.) but also there is a Performance competition. The Reciter of the Festival, which will be run something similarly to the National Folk Festival award , will be run for the first time on the Sunday. The winner will have the right to have their name on the trophy and return next year to judge the comp.
There will be two poets breakfasts and our headliner this year is Greg North. Other performing poets that I know of are Ken Potter (winner of the audience award at Galgong,) Alan Stone and me. There will be plenty of opportunities for 'walk ups' so if you are in the area get along to the Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival - 25th to 27th October 2013.
