Ah the joys of camping Manfred. Not to sure about the third verse Mata sauce ?

I reckon Dead Horse would fit better

The whole camping scene has changed over the last two years. Where families used to put up tents and cart heaps of gear now it is all camper trailers for the 30 to 40 year olds with at least two kids in tow and more time spent having fun rather then wasting time setting up complicated tents and such.

Cheers Bob

Love the title - lost it with the mata sauce and IMO you could ditch the 3rd verse altogether because I don't think it adds anything. I am presuming that the last line is sung as

Casuarinas (drawn out)
will whisper (softer)
in the wind (softer again and fading out)

I like it

Cheers

Thanks Bob, Mauzie ... That last stanza is actually the chorus, changed slightly on the recording (I'll ammend it accordingly) ... :)

I had no trouble with 'mata sauce. I think that 'mata instead of tomato has a bit of lawlessness about it that sort of hints at the outbreak of kiddie anarchy at mealtime in the camp, so I reckon it fits in just right.

I think that's fine Manfred .. the whispering in the casuarinas is a very strong image of the camping ground I think.

I thought it was lovely and I liked mata sauce because that is how a child would pronounce it. But arm doesn't rhyme with storm and I think that sounds odd. But I love the scene Manfred.

Good one Manfred,
I agree with some of the suggested changes, but it is still up to you which way you go.
After all they are lyrics and matter best when sung.
When we were kids and later in our teens we used to go camping on the Murrumbidgee River at the Cotter Dam and at a place called 'Casuarina Sands'
A beautiful spot.

Thanks Heather, Nev, Bob & Frank ... what you see there is actually how it ended up. It will be released later this year, I may even post (the song) then .... :)

We have some great Australian/Aboriginal names that roll off the tongue musically ... Coochimudlo, Goondiwindi, Casurina ... far too many to mention here.
Incorporating these names and terms in our pieces, I believe, gives them identity ...
