Grandchildren

Grandchildren

They rummage in the pantry
they’re fighting in the hall
and leave their dirty prints
on every single wall.

There are balls up on the roof
there’s shuttlecocks as well
they walk all through the garden
and ring the front door bell.

They unwind garden hoses
then make a puddling mess
we now see why their mother
is always full of stress.

They leave their sticky lollies
anywhere upon the floor
we even found the blighters
stuck half way up a door.

They hate their evening bath time
can’t tell them what to do
they always stall and dawdle
until your face is blue.

Oh! boy! and when they’re fighting
it’s like a great world war
just when you think it’s over
they then front up for more.

some times it’s quite unbearable
and almost brings forth tears
the high, brain piercing screaming
leave’s ringing through your ears.

Now we are loving grandees
and one thing we must say
when all your grandkids visit
you love them more each day.

The good thing is you can love them and hand them back when you need a rest Dave.

Chris always said that if she knew being a grandmother was so much fun she would have done it first.

Enjoyed the read David.
