A little girls tears

A little girls tears.

The church was packed with mourners
the courtyard filled as well.
The grieving family dressed in black
not a dry eye as far as one could tell

They'd gathered here to say farewell
to a man of high esteem
A man who throughout his earthly life
gave hope to a poor man's dream.

His philanthropic exploits
were there for all too see
His name splashed every other day
in newsprint and TV

The eulogies and tributes
his lifetime exploits barely scratched
A legacy of passion to the poor.
painted a life so rarely matched.

They spoke of how he'd changed their lives
when their last avenue of help had gone
How his outstretched hand of passion
was where there future shone.

The last to give a eulogy,a daughter,
tear drop running down her face
Her matted hair and unkempt look
seemed somewhat out of place.

She painted such a stark rebuttal
of a troubled life within.
How for years she wore the stigma
of a dads perpetrated sin

For years tears have flowed
she said, but I never kept the score
I stand here today to tell you, Dad,
you can't hurt me any more.

I never for one minute
Give up loving you and Mum
I've hid this shame for all these years
today, not asking could I come.

Come, and beg of you forgiveness
and say I'm sorry for my state
Ask reason why you stole my innocence
that tore the fabric from my plate.

Stunned silence was the order
as she humbly left that throng
A life of tears that stained her memory
were no longer deemed as wrong.

Very, very powerful Noel. Is it a true story because if it is it was a very brave thing to do.

I have a friend who was abused by her father and she will never feel at rest until he leaves this world. She has very little to do with him but is still scared of him. Her older sister was also abused but the youngest wasn't and she does not believe her sisters that it ever happened. Hard to fathom.

heather It came from a story I read and I cant recall the name of the book, but it was a true story of a girl who lived all her life with the guilt but still loved her father. I guess in the end she was still crying out for help
