EVEN THE MIGHTY FALL
Elephant eyes are really small, but elephants are so big.
Seagulls with telescopic eyesight just don’t give a fig
if your fish and chips you’ve finished, they just swoop in for a feed.
The elephant is bigger, but does not display such greed.
Elephants never forget - a fact proved to be true.
Mistreat them and revenge they’ll seek, until they punish you.
Cause and effect, the very same is what makes this world turn.
Death the unsought prize when for another’s lands we yearn.
Where to now? We’re fighting nature, wars and our own human greed.
We step over those who fall before us – their pain we don’t heed.
Never forget that life is a just a circle going round
what’s new today is old in fact – we’re covering the same ground.
Perhaps a lesson could be taught by those big pachyderms
who graze the plains in harmony – this lesson we should learn;
you may be big and strong enough to lord it over all
but strive to live in harmony – even the mighty fall.

A neat little piece Maureen. I don't think life's a circle, I'm sure I've never been this way before

Thanks for commenting Neville and Sue.
I reckon that things do go around in circles - a bit like committee meetings where the new committee rehashes what the old committee had already done.
Sure you are familiar with that scenario

Aah committees, always reminds me of something Hayden Sargeant (a former Brisbane radio announcer) used to say. He reckoned that the 11th commandment should be ... Thou shalt not commit E.
