homework 21/5/12 Dreamer awake.

DREAMER AWAKE

As I lay there a'dreaming
I saw a vision bright,
my wife serene with friendly smile,
not shaping up to fight.

She made a gourmet breakfast
for me to have in bed
and in this vision didn't try
to tip it on my head.

Those gentle loving fingers
caressed my grateful face
instead of clamping on my throat
in murderous embrace.

Now in this dream, my angel
began to sing a song;
a soaring lilting melody
that suddenly..went wrong.

Her voice became a bugle
and woke me with a jerk
"Get up you useless drunken lout,
it's time to go to work !"

Hi Neville

I love it! It reminds me of the time my old man came home late after imbibing a few with my favourite brother -in -law and asked where his dinner was - you know where it was two seconds later!!!

Cheers

Eating cheese and drinking red wine prior to going to bed is said to cause bad dreams Neville    or maybe even nightmares.

Good fun and I enjoyed the read

Thanks for the replies ladies. I was hoping you would say I had it all wrong ;) :D

I am not sure whether I have succeeded, but despite the facetious silliness of the content I was trying to make something that was not just rhyming prose but had a poetic feel. This one will probably have to stay in the drawer as , things I have tried to write.

Sorry Dot, Townsville is just too far for me at the moment. And I am a poor performer anyway.

Poor performer! Don't belief it. Townsville has great people and is a great place especially in June.

Cheers
