Reflections on the Nature of the Universe, and its Centre.
Re: Reflections on the Nature of the Universe, and its Centr
An interesting thought Stephen, not something the creationists tend to ponder.

Are you trying to tell us you're a creationist, Dennis? No, I don't think so. But they're on your mind, obviously.

No, as you may have guessed I'm not a creationist Stephen, well at least I don't believe

But then maybe something created it all with a big bang 15 billion years ago, who knows?

Fair enough. Did you read about that probe that is going to check out if there are any fish in the ocean of one of Jupiter's moons? Maybe the night was made for them! But it's another night, isn't it. Another night, another reason - maybe. (I wonder how long a night is on that moon. Marty would know.)

Wow! That was quick! That's for Europa, I take it. I assume all the moons would have nights of different lengths. Wikipedia tells me Jupiter has 66 moons. That must play devil with the tides!

And somewhere someone was having a cup of tea.
Stephen there is lots in the night sky, but you cannot see it from the city or town with all the reflected light. Go deep into the bush lie on your back and ponder.

G'day fellow travellers all,
Dave, the problem with doing as you suggest is that you begin to feel so very small that you can easily imagine you could get swallowed up by it all.
We are but dust, after all.

True Zondrae it certainly can make you feel small, the trick is not to feel insignificant, as we are all a super power in our own right.
Best regards Dave.

I find it very reassuring to feel small sometimes. Sure, it might suggest less power, but it also suggests less responsibility! That can't be all bad!

We had an outside dunny when I was a kid ... of course the blokes never sat for the 'upstanding bit. When Dad an I would go outside together, we'd look at the stars while connected to the Earth with our streams (blokes STILL look up in the inside dunnies). Dad would often say, before pointing out the constellations, "Behold the night, it hides the World but reveals a UNIVERSE!"
I believe the current lack of astronomical knowledge is directly proportional to the lack of outside dunnies ...
