Homework w/e 21.05.12 - DADS DREAM

Post by Maureen K Clifford » Thu May 10, 2012 9:07 am

There’s a stairway to heaven or so we’ve been told
and a bright light that leads us up stair treads of gold.
There are gates that stand open – they're solid and wide
and we see friends and loved ones all waiting inside.

The old earthly body now garbed in soft white.
All of life’s disappointments removed overnight.
Tired spirits feel blessed, and reborn. Steps are youthful.
Those stories of Heaven it seems might be truthful.

We doubted, we wondered, could it really be
that we’d be reunited with loved ones, and see
once again well loved faces who’d been gone for years
and feel their embraces, midst laughter and tears.

And so my dream lingers that one day I’ll see
each one of my furry mates waiting for me,
and if at the end of my journey they wait
then I will be happy and welcome my fate.

And Dad often visits when I’m feeling low
and tells me that Rusty and Beauty and Beau,
with Blossom and Caddy, Sam, Jessy and Ralph
are keeping him busy – no time to his self.

Some would think it a miracle, some disbelieve
Some call it a fairy tale – set to deceive.
But if trust, love and faith will set all things to right
then I know that’s where Dad is. Sweet dreams Dad. Goodnight.

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

Beautifully put Maureen.
I think it's comforting to believe. None of us will ever know.

Good writing I think Maureen, you could make a little song out of that one. :)
