Homework Topics for week ending 16.07.12

Gee the time just seems to be flying along. Here we are at the start of another financial year, and the news is all about increased costs and hardship to pensioners and low income earners. And while we are turning the knife let’s see if we can upset a few living arrangements as well.

Interesting thought crossed my mind that were a single person living in a three bedroom Government home, (that had been the family home for over 20 years and where the kids were raised) to take in another person to share with them (utilizing that spare bedroom) and that person was of the opposite sex – would the Government then start pressuring them as being in a de facto relationship thus affecting their pension and peace of mind? Might just be me but I can see a lot of traps in this suggested scheme. How would you know the background of the person the Government would like you to share your home with???? Would you offer a room in your home to a complete stranger – buggered if I would. Lucky I don’t have too. And those who might perhaps be coerced into moving into smaller accommodation – what about their animals?????

Anyway I digress but perhaps there is a poem or two in it – the voice of social conscience perhaps from the pens of poets.

So with that in mind let’s see what can be done with –

The rising tide of worry
A house no longer home
Four legged companions
Balancing the budget
Tighten the belt
Another cup of water in the soup

As always use one or use all and put your own spin on them and thanks to those who gave our ‘ation’ prompts a go last time. There were some clever word combinations came out of that and a bit of fun had by those who had a shot.
