That's the old wallopers mentality Heather. If someone was announced as achieving something , the mob would demand that they celebrate on what they called " the first hot day "

congratulations Marty,

You are in good company as you will see when you receive the book. There are a couple of us who 'play' on this site who have also made the anthology. It is a thrill. I haven't been writing much 'competition' material lately so to have one included feels almost like winning. The poem in question is one I have been working on for some time. It was difficult to finish as it is a true story and I know my endings are often weak.

What is your poem called? also is it very long? Keep up the writing. The more you write the better you will get.
Well done and keep entering competitions because every judge is different and likes different things. I have learned that some of the top winning writers send in 6 or 7 entries. In the 'Kembla Flame' comp - one writer sent in 13 entries. I wonder if they were disappointed with the ones that didn't get anything or if they thought they would do a 'Terry', and make a clean sweep?

Owh! Owh! We used to have a 'Pauline'.. that is 'please explain' now we have a 'Terry' .. that is win the lot!

Congratulations, Marty!

Yes, I've had a poem included, too - for the second time, the first one being back in 1986. (I think I've only submitted one other year - and that poem sank without a trace.)

I submitted quite a short poem, wondering what they would do with it, because I couldn't see how it could win a prize. Now I know!

Congratulations Marty,
I've got one in, for the first time, and I'm also pretty chuffed! I hope it gives you the boost you were looking for. :D
I haven't written much poetry lately (working on other things) but you're right, it gives you incentive to pick up the pen!
