Have just finished reading my copy of the 2012 edition and it is full of wonderful poetry but I have to say that two were standouts for me and I do hope they will now get posted up here on this site.

Zondraes Remember, Watch the boy and Leonie's The Rev Head Cockatoo poles apart in content, one so poignant and the other hilarous but what a read. Excellent work ladies.

Cheers

Maureen

I got a copy of the Bronze Swagman book. Congratulations to all inclusions, a few there from our forum writers.
That first stanza of yours, Marty , is especially good . That's the sort of thing we have to build on I reckon. I think that the first stanza makes ( or breaks ) the poem, and Marty's first stanza showing rather than telling about the slab hut really sets the scene on which the whole thing follows. Just my opinion, for what it's worth. ;)

Fully agree Neville, that 1st stanza should hold the reader in anticipation for more, but what do I know...   I received my book as well & am enjoying gradually reading through it...one day I'll have a poem in there... :D congratulations to all.... :D

Thanks Maureen, glad you enjoyed my little flight of fancy about taking revenge on the neighbour's kid ... bloody rev heads. I won't put the poem up here just yet because I entered it in another comp before I got the email about it being published. Should be ok, the rules said not be published for the monetary gain of the author and seeing as I never get a red cent for my entries in various anthologies (and at this point haven't even got a copy of the book) there hasn't been any monetary gain.

 I've got a couple of others though. Wilhelamina's Dragon copped a first at Toolangi so it's out of the loop now. I might stick it in the kids section.
