I think the phrase with weighed in 10th line is a good choice. You wouldn't take my suggestion but when a female says it you take notice...I'll remember that..mate !

I think you are right that the hangman was despised by a lot of the community. I've seen what some of the ruthless killers have done, why anyone would have animosity towards the hangman for despatching them is beyond me. I heard that one of the jobs allocated to the hangman in old England , was to deal with unruly hoons in the community by literally kicking them out of town. Sounds good to me.

Neville I think it was more that I agreed with you, therefore adding weight to your argument - against which Marty was powerless to resist. Anyhow, "weighed" was on of your suggestions whereas I'd have gone for something like "paid".....
