Good King Manfred V.
Good King Manfred V.
Good King Manfred V. set out through the mind of Stephen,
through a wilderness of doubt, rocky and uneven.
Questions loomed to left and right, rampant flights of fancy,
sudden shafts of blinding light, memories of Clancy.
“Bloody hell, this joint’s a mess, dunno what I’m doing,
I am lost, I quite confess, what’s this stuff he’s brewing?”
“Waccy baccy?” Maureen said. “Magic mushrooms cooking?”
Brenda peered inside his head: “My, that is strange-looking!”
“Quirky thoughts!” exclaimed our Bob. “Whimsy, dark and hazy.”
Neville said: “It’s just the job sends all doctors crazy!”
“Clouds of humour,” Zondrae cried, “oceans full of laughter,
chuckles floating with the tide, happiness thereafter.”
“Don’t forget the magazine,” Keats yelled, “there’s a deadline!
Search that mighty verse machine…find another headline!”
“Look!” said Irene. “Word-filled streams, forests full of phrases.”
Vic saw wild, marauding dreams: “Time to run like blazes!”
“Good hot bath will do the trick. Trust me!” said Leonie.
“No,” cried Kymmie. “Here’s my pick…give the man a pony!”
Marty’s 1 and 2 chimed in: “Bloody southern weather
rots the brain far worse than gin…please don’t hurt us, Heather!”
Glenny laughed “We’re all quite mad, with our love of po’ing,
yet there’s all the fun we’ve had…keeps the party going!”
Terry, Bill and Dave cried: “Yay!”; Peely, Ross: “We, too, cheer!”
“All the best for Christmas Day and a happy New Year!”
