BONUS PRIZE FOR COPPER CROC

Post by Glenny Palmer » Thu Feb 21, 2013 11:05 pm

A bonza new development!

The Upper Dawson Branch of the Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland have generously donated to our Copper Croc written competition, a gorgeous pair of Limited Edition (insulated) stainless camping mugs, beautifully etched with ‘The Leichhardt Tree’. They are very interested in our poetry as a vehicle for promoting awareness of the need to preserve our unique Australian flora and fauna, and habitat.

To that end we are now offering their gift as a Bonus Prize for the best poem on the subject of ‘Wild and Wonderful Australia’ ie. a poem specifically honouring our unique Australian flora and fauna, and habitat.
(Please be sure to note ‘Wild and Wonderful Australia’ above your poem’s Title to be eligible.)

They are interested in possibly printing the winning poem in their widely distributed publication. Who knows where this could lead for the successful poet in the future? (Being such a shiny surface the mug was difficult to photograph, but this will give you some idea of how lovely they are.)
Thank you! UDB,WPSOQ

(We still neeed more entries...pleeese. :D ).....thanks heaps everyone. xx Glenny

BTW.........anyone mailing stuff specifically for me...the PO Box on the entries details is not mine. It is for a dear friend, Ann, who is administering the written comp for me....so that you all remain unanimous when I'm judging.
I'm just plain old 'Post Office Theodore'...........(no letterboxes out here... :? )

Glenny can we put the details of this comp on other sites? - I take it it is not restricted just to ABPA members

This is an Inaugural Event in honour of our celebrated local Bush Poet, and good mate ‘Croc’. We will be launching Croc’s highly entertaining book, ‘The World According To Croc’ at the event. This shindig is essentially a gathering of invited friends & poet mates, coming to Theodore from across Australia, to celebrate Croc’s life & to say our farewells, as sadly, he is terminally ill. There will be no formal public Performance Competition for this first year, but we ask all poets to… please support the written competition… to help fund the project and get it ‘on its way’. We are hoping it will develop into a popular yearly attraction for our lovely Theodore township, & one that the poets can feel ‘ownership’ of, through having helped to establish it.
Many thanks

What about The Central Telegraph and the Weekly Rural weekly in the Morning Bulletin Glenny particulary since The Charlie Marshall comp has folded they should give you a lot of coverage.

I will give my mate at the local radio station 4 RO a ring as well.

The Abc local would probably help as well send an e mail to Jacki on the morning show in Rocky.

Cheers Bob

Good oh - I have put it onto my Pool Site

http://pool.abc.net.au/media/copper-croc

How about flashing the details across to Macca on Australia all Over - it's the sort of event that he will often help promote
