Ah, that brings back memories, Heather. And, you know, sometimes I think this website is a little like the Faraway Tree...you never quite know what weird and wonderful world you'll find when you climb up through that hole in the cloud.

Then, of course, there are the memorable characters. Who might they really be, I wonder? Dame Washalot? The Saucepan Man? Silky? Mister Watzisname? The Angry Pixie? Moonface? Then, of course, there's Dame Slap, who presumably has the job of sending certain people to the naughty corner.

Hmmmmm...

David ;)

I think I need to re-visit that book David. It's been a while. :)

When I was at high school I played a prank on the librarian once. I told her my name was Enid Blyton and funnily enough she couldn't find my library card!

I've just cleared out a lot of my kids books and given them to my children but the ones I have kept are my Noddy books and Dr. Seuss books.

I had a friend at school whose name was Richard Nixon. He used to get into strife when the prefects asked him what his name was...

I should have known better by high school shouldn't I? I couldn't believe a librarian didn't know who Enid Blyton was and that she even got as far as having to look up my card.

Looks live I've given my Faraway Tree books to my daughter - bummer. Might have to retrieve them. :)

Maybe she wasn't really listening, Heather. Probably had her mind on the new Phys Ed teacher with the tight butt.

G'day Heather,

I have two of the 'Faraway Tree' series, almost brand new. Can't remember where or when I bought them but it must have been recently. I also acquired for almost nothing at a garage sale, a pile of 'Bobsey Twins' and other similar - OH and my childhood favourite, 'Mr Pinkwhistle.'
