The Revival

Post by Bob Pacey » Thu Jun 27, 2013 5:50 am

State Of Origin Two

There are many things I savour my family friends and mates
Being born in Queensland the greatest of the states.
But there is one thing I love the most and it will always light my spark
it’s watching Queenslands smash the blues into the turf around Lang park.

Those Blues were feeling cocky they thought their team could not be beat
we’ll just turn up and play they thought and victory will be sweet.
but they forgot that Queensland spirit and they would just not be told
so Queensland showed them how to play like those warriors of old.

Two minutes that was all it took and Thaiday crashed in for four
then a cut out pass from Thurston and Boyd went in to score.
They were playing just like men possessed the Blues watched on in awe
Boyd could have scored another as the crowd let out a roar.

Fourteen zip at half time to climb that mountain was too much
Queensland were playing football while the Blues were playing touch.
Another try to Boyd and the backline had done their work
then Merrin threw that first punch and the refs just went berserk.

Four players in the bin at once Bird and Hodges on the list
and Tait sat on the sideline for head butting Merrins fist.
With eleven players on the field the end was looking nigh
there would be no Blues revival as Inglis sealed it with a try

I still can see the grief as Daly hung his head in shame
we took all the Blues could muster then showed them how to play the game.
But we all know the jobs not finished as we head to cockroach town
yes the Canetoads armies coming and we’re hungry for another crown.

The Battle ground of Sydney, a place the roaches hold so dear
but to loose the series there is only building on their fear.
The Blues supporters hang their heads they won’t look you in the eye
They know the battles almost lost they want to crawl away and die.

Eight in a row you bet ya one more win to seal that dream
a team of Champions beaten by a Queensland champion team.

Queenslander.

The purpose in life is to have fun.
After you grasp that everything else seems insignificant !!!

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.
