Survival of the Poetic Species
I wonder if Charles Darwin got it wrong
in talking of the species that survive.
“It’s not the most intelligent,” he said,
“the ones with all those brains inside their head.
Nor, if you really want to stay alive
is it enough to be quite big and strong.
You must adapt to change with passing time!”
So tell me, does that rule apply to rhyme?
